5º Encontro do Património Cultural Imaterial
Camacha, long recognised as the home of Madeira's wickerwork tradition, hosts the 5th Intangible Cultural Heritage Meeting of the Madeira Archipelago, themed "The Craft of Wicker in Dialogue: Between Safeguarding and Contemporary Practice."
The meeting brings together researchers, artisans, artists, specialists and members of the public to reflect on the safeguarding, appreciation and transmission of the know-how behind wickerwork — one of Madeira's most significant intangible cultural heritages.
Program:
Morning: Thematic talks and discussions at the Auditório da Casa do Povo da Camacha
Afternoon: Visit to a traditional wicker workshop, following the stages of raw material preparation and craft production
