Ethnographic Village

This Ethnographic Village presents live examples of local traditions, crafts, food and folklore, together with two traditional nativity scenes, promoting the tangible and intangible culture of Madeira.

Two types of nativity scenes are on display: the traditional Madeiran nativity scene, set outdoors, representing the human and natural landscape with vegetation, terraces, valleys, ravines, little houses and haystacks; and the tiered nativity scene, featuring characteristic elements such as the Child Jesus, bows, fruit, grains and bread, among others.

Visitors can also order the typical wheat soup and bolo do caco bread, available for take away only.
