FestiBrava 2026 – Madeira Folklore Festival (Ribeira Brava)

Get ready for an explosion of color, rhythm, and sound — FestiBrava returns to Ribeira Brava's seafront on September 6 for its 25th edition, and it's the kind of event you don't just watch, you feel. Around 200 dancers and musicians from five folk groups across Madeira, the Azores, and mainland Portugal come together for one evening of swirling skirts, stomping feet, and centuries-old songs that fill the air along the water.

Regional folklore performances like this are a full sensory experience: layered costumes in bold patterns, the beat of drums and accordions, voices rising in traditional chants, and dancers moving in perfect sync with steps passed down through generations. Each group brings its own distinct flavor, so watching them one after another on the same stage is a rare chance to see the diversity of Portuguese folk tradition in a single night.

The event is free and open to everyone.

17:30 — Procession from Casa do Povo da Ribeira Brava to the seafront (Frente Mar)

18:00 — Performances by the participating folk groups, featuring traditional songs, dances, and costumes
