Madeira Backyard Ultra

The 3rd edition of the Madeira Backyard Ultra takes place on October 10, 2026, in Machico, Madeira, with a 09:00 start. The race follows the Backyard Ultra format: runners complete the same 6,706-meter (4.167-mile) loop within each hour, using any remaining time to rest before the next lap begins. There is no fixed finish line — the race continues, lap after lap, until only one runner is left standing.

The course covers 230 feet of climb per loop, run on a surface of parallel bars and a wooden-and-concrete boardwalk. The event has a capacity of 100 participants, and registrations open shortly.

The current course loop record stands at 37 loops, held by Adriano Furtado (March 15, 2025).
