Madeira Hiking Meeting 2026 | Hiking Event in Ponta Delgada
Hiking is one of the activities most sought after by visitors to Madeira, and this one-day get-together is built around it. Groups and individual hikers set off on routes of their own choice and all converge at Parque de Merendas da Primeira Lombada in Ponta Delgada (São Vicente). The meeting is open to local hikers and visitors. The focus is on socialising, sharing experiences and enjoying the island’s trails.
It takes place during Madeira’s Nature Festival, which runs 5–11 October 2026.

Programme
08:00 – Hikers start their walks along routes of their own choice.
13:00 – First participants are expected at the venue. The arrival window runs from 13:00 to 15:00.
13:30 – Shared meal at the venue: Arroz de Pato (duck rice), with a drink. Routes
Walk any distance you like. Each group or hiker chooses the route and the length. The organizer also offers individual registration on guided routes, led by a certified guide. Details of the guided routes will be added when available.

Age: Participants must be 18 or over. Ages 12–17 are accepted when accompanied by a parent.
Plate and cutlery: Bring your own to cut down on waste. Recyclable ones are available in limited stock for €1.50 (plate and cutlery), €1 (plate only) or €0.50 (cutlery only).
Fitness: Choose a route that suits your preparation. Weather: The organizer may cancel the event due to weather.
Registration is online only, and places are limited to 400 participants. Payment is by bank transfer only, with proof of payment sent to the organizer at associacaoretoica@gmail.com. Payment confirms your place.
