Open-Air Cinema - Praceta dos Barreiros

Fractal Funchal brings cinema outdoors for one night, with a screen set up on a hillside overlooking the city lights of Funchal and seating arranged for the evening.

The programme opens with the world premiere of Cartografia de um Lugar Comum ("Cartography of a Common Place"), the first episode of a documentary series following the artistic process of Projeto Trégua.

It's followed by Sister Midnight (2024), directed by Karan Kandhari, screened in partnership with Screenings Funchal. The film follows Uma, a woman navigating an arranged marriage and pushing against the role society expects of her, told through a series of everyday episodes in a tone that moves between dark comedy and drama.
