Funchal SkySpeed 2026 — Corrida de Subida (Campeonato Nacional)

The Clube Aventura da Madeira hosts the 1st edition of Funchal SkySpeed on September 13, 2026 — a short, explosive uphill running race that decides Portugal's national champions in the SkySpeed discipline of Skyrunning. Athletes run (not walk, cycle, or crawl) a steep 300-metre course with 100m of positive elevation gain, set in the Ribeira das Cales area of the Funchal Ecological Park.

The format uses two timed uphill runs, with each athlete's final result taken from their best time between the two attempts.

The event also doubles as a national title decider for two further Skyrunning categories held on the same course: the Clubs Vertical National Championship and the Youth National Championship.

8:15 AM — Secretariat opens, Ribeira das Cales

9:00 AM — Staggered starts begin

12:15 PM — Prize ceremony (expected)

Registration closes September 2, 2026, with priority given to federated skyrunners until August 20. The event is supported by the Funchal Municipality, the Regional Government of Madeira, and the Portuguese Mountain Sports Federation (FCMP).
