Machico Through Madeira's Trails (Machico Pelos Trilhos da Madeira) – Caminhada Ribeiro Frio a Portela
Join the monthly community walk from the "Machico Pelos Trilhos da Madeira" series, organized regularly to let locals and visitors discover the trails and landscapes of the Machico parish, get some exercise, and enjoy nature together.
This edition follows the Ribeiro Frio–Portela route (Levada do Furado), one of Madeira's best-known levada walks. It starts at an altitude of 860 metres in Ribeiro Frio and descends through the native Laurissilva forest toward the Portela viewpoint, passing scenic views over the Faial valley, Porto da Cruz and the Penha d'Águia rock formation.
The trail is approximately 11 km long, rated medium/low difficulty, and typically takes around 4–5 hours to complete.
