Opera at Pico

Opera, fireworks, and sweeping views over Funchal’s bay come together at Fortaleza do Pico for “Ópera no Pico”, one of the most striking highlights of the Atlantic Festival. Over four nights, the fortress transforms into an open-air stage where music, passion, and storytelling unfold under the stars, blending opera, cinema-inspired moments, comedy, and lyrical song.

This year’s edition also includes special moments such as the family production “The Enchanted Story of The Magic Flute”, the Vocal Masterclass led by soprano Patrícia Modesto in collaboration with the Madeira Conservatory of Music, and the final showcase “The New Lyric Generation”, featuring emerging voices from the region. It’s a celebration of opera that bridges tradition and modern creativity in a truly atmospheric setting.
