Festas da Ponta do Sol

Every summer the village of Ponta do Sol turns into one of Madeira's liveliest stages for nearly three weeks of concerts, sport and folk tradition. The Festas da Ponta do Sol combine a Week of Popular and Traditional Culture with an eclectic programme of live music, drawing residents and visitors from across the island.

The centrepiece is the International Folklore Festival on 23 August, when dance and music groups from Portugal and abroad perform together in the village centre. Nightly concerts, sport and recreational activities run throughout the festivities, closing with three nights of headline concerts from 4 to 6 September.
